The LabCom project between UMR Ecobio in Rennes, and the company Cellion, has just been accepted by the ANR: Microscale-Lab * will allow to develop a innovative single-cell genomic analysis technology.

UMR Ecobio's EcogenO core facility, headed by Philippe Vandenkoornhuyse, professor at the Université Rennes 1, specializes in microbial ecology and environmental genomics. It offers Service and Research services to public and private laboratories.

Cellenion develops products and solutions for the isolation of single cells and in particular the cellenONE technology. Cellenion's multidisciplinary research team combines expertise in molecular and cellular biology, microbiology, bioinformatics, etc.

MICROSCALE-lab is structured around three R&D axes:

  1. IsoCell which targets the isolation of single microbial cells from a complex community using cellenONE systems,
  2. IsoGenes, focused on genome analysis,
  3. IsoTrans, focused on the analysis of single microbial cell transcriptomes.

These three axes have the overall objective of offering a complete system (isolation, preparation of sequencing libraries and bioinformatics analysis) for the study of single microbial cells, creating a conceptual and technological breakthrough for the study of microbial communities, face to the 'meta-omics' tools currently in use.

For EcogenO, this will be the opportunity to offer a new technological offer in the field of the study of microbiota in health, environment, bioproduction, agrifood, cosmetics, etc.
