On December 6, the GO-EV network brought together The Géraudière, in Nantes, more than 70 participants from various backgrounds for a day entitled: “Issues in Extracellular Vesicle Isolation & In Vivo Applications”.

The morning began with a series of flash presentations from GO-EV member and future member teams, providing an overview of their respective expertise. This moment provided an opportunity to discover the wealth of work being carried out around extracellular vesicles (EVs) and to lay the foundations for the day's discussions.
Two short presentation sessions then explored in detail the challenges and innovations related to extracellular vesicles. first session, dedicated to theEV insulation, highlighted varied and innovative approaches. Floriane Binet, from the IECM/B-FHIT unit, presented a scalable method for producing small EVs derived from human beta cells cultured in a stirred tank bioreactor. Mickaël Couty, from CRCI2NA, unveiled the New Hekat Sorting Machine, an instrument for detecting and sorting EVs at the individual level. Finally, Odile Tresse, from the PhAN unit, discussed the main challenges and pitfalls related to the study of intestinal bacterial EVs.
La second session focused on the Advanced applications and characterizations of EVs, illustrating the scope of their potential uses. Amandine Dupuy, from CR2TI, presented the PokEV-Ball, an innovative tool aimed at inducing tolerance in transplantation. Aurélien Dupont, from the MRic core facility, detailed the TEM2C approach, integrating cryo-EM and transmission electron microscopy for the structural characterization of proteins. Laurence Dubreil, from Panther/APEX, presented the applications of fluorescence microscopy to explore EVs at different scales.
The afternoon was dedicated to collaborative workshops, an innovative approach that encourages exchanges. Divided into small groups of 4 to 5 participants from different units, the discussions addressed:
Each workshop took place in several stages: presentation of the participants, brainstorming in subgroups, sharing at the room level, and final restitution in the amphitheater. This methodology allowed a cross-fertilization of ideas, strengthening collaborations and favoring the emergence of new perspectives.

Company stands SARTORIUS et EXCILONE played a central role in facilitating discussions between participants and manufacturers. These exchanges provided a better understanding of the tools available to meet current EV needs. In addition, a poster session enriched the day, highlighting various works aligned with the themes discussed.
