Functional Exploration Axis

The event brought together several experts from this multidisciplinary field integrating the collection of marine organisms, the chemistry of natural products, the characterization of the biological activity of extracts or pure molecules and their possible industrial valorization.

Several infrastructures and institutes were represented: ChemBioFrance, EMBRC France, the Roscoff Biological Station, the Concarneau Marine Station, the Institute of Organic and Analytical Chemistry of Orléans, the Institute of Chemistry of Nice, the Biodimar core facility of Brest, the Littoral Environment and Societies laboratory of La Rochelle, the Marine Environmental Sciences Laboratory of Brest, the Marine Biotechnology and Chemistry Laboratory of Vannes.

The morning presentations

After a presentation of the "Functional Exploration" axis by Thomas Robert and Séverine Rémy, coordinators of the axis, the participants were able to appreciate the extent and diversity of marine models thanks to the speakers invited for the day.

Afternoon presentations

The day ended with a lively discussion 

by Claire Hellio and Stéphane Bach around the question:

“How can we optimize the process of discovering marine molecules?”
