“Dear colleagues, dear friends,

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the death of Christian Barillot, which occurred this Sunday evening, as a result of an illness, at the age of 60 years.

CNRS research director, Christian was in charge of the Neurinfo core facility at Biogenouest, within the Bio-imaging axis. He joined the GIS in 2012.

From the 80s, Christian developed pioneering work in the field of three-dimensional (3D) computing applied to medical imaging. In the 90s, he became a leading scientific figure on an international scale, notably with his work in the field of brain image analysis. He was director of the Empenn Research Unit, which corresponds to the word Brain in Breton. Meetings with Christian were always imbued with humor and humanity.

All our thoughts go naturally to his family and loved ones.
